I. AM. HYSTERICAL.

God’s got an uncanny sense of humor. I think He loves to laugh . . . and I’m guessing I’m one of His favorite comedians. No for real . . . I’ll be going about my day and I’ll have some sort of trip up or slip up and fall flat on my derriere and wonder what the heck just happened.

OK, for instance . . . in my mind I want to be a doctor so I go to school to become a doctor. The first semester of college I take classes to get the degree to get into the program, aka medical school, to become a doctor. I get 3 Cs and an F for my grades that first semester. So guess what? I’m not going to become a doctor after all. Pre med . . . way too hard. He giggles. Then another time I relocate to another state and I figure my entire family would soon follow. Who was I kidding! I got stuck all by myself. God laughs again but this time His chuckle is a little deeper. Then when I move to that other state I figure I’ll buy a house, not my dream house, but a starter home that I can fix up, resell and THEN buy my two-story dream house. Wrong! At this point I’m pretty sure He’s rolling around in the Heavens pointing at me trying to catch His breath as He’s cracking up with fits of laughter. Then I think I’ll marry the one I’m going to be with forever and ever . . . my best friend and life partner. After all, we were meant to be. PFFFFFTT! God is cackling right about now. Picture this . . . His side is in stitches and tears are rolling down His cheeks as He tries REALLY hard not to fall through the clouds as fits of uncontrollable laughter overtake Him. Yeah. I’m pretty funny.

It’s said that laughter is the best medicine and we shouldn’t take ourselves too seriously but man! When I’m in those moments where I think I’m making the best plans and decisions for my life, God is trying really hard not to snicker as He watches me. I may be dead serious as I take measures to change my circumstances for the better but PSYCH! NOT! He always has a better plan. So when I’m too busy devising my own plans without consulting God . . . He laughs.
