Think about it. Does any of it really matter? We’re all here but for a moment in time. Look around you. Everyone you see now will someday be gone. I’m not talking about gone to another school or job or country. We will all literally be gone, passed on, never to return. I know, gruesome thought right? But it’s true.
Think about it. Don’t you see? Does anything really matter all that much? Did your fender bender really matter in the overall grand scheme of life? Did you walk away unscathed? So now you have insurance issues, car repairs, and out of pocket expenses to deal with but did everyone involved walk away? Does the car oil staining your driveway really matter? Did the car that dripped that oil get you or your teenagers home safely in one piece everyday? So now you’ve got to go pressure clean the concrete. So what. You have the physical capability to do that don’t you? A car cut you off but you avoided an accident. Road rage is real. Let them go on. It doesn’t even matter. Just get home to your family in one piece. Everyone wants to be included. You didn’t get an invite to that event or that party or that movie like everyone else did. Sucks huh? But think about it. No money spent on a gift, tickets, mani-pedi, new outfit or transportation to get there. Turns out the evening you had with whatever company you were with, or maybe you were by yourself, was much more fun and stress free than going out was going to be. Did it really matter?
Life is fluid. Ever changing. We’ve just gotta roll with it. What we have to do is constantly figure out what REALLY matters cause honestly, nothing we have now . . . not our houses, cars, money, jobs, degrees, status or families . . . none of it can go with us when we leave this here earth. Not one solitary thing. So figure out what truly matters while you’re here.
Perhaps kindness and empathy matters. Perhaps equality and justice matters. Perhaps promoting peace and love matters. Perhaps drawing closer to Jesus matters. The rest is just noise. Loud, distracting noise.
