Soooo. . . you know how I’ve mentioned there are two realms that we live in? The natural and the supernatural? One we see every day here on earth in the natural with our very own eyes right in front of us where we have to work and go to school and interact with people and just do everyday types of things. Then there’s the supernatural realm that most of us can’t see. It’s the invisible to the naked eye I know it’s there but I don’t really want to acknowledge it cause it’s none of my business but some of us can actually see it but no one wants to believe it really exists realm. This is where the REAL DEAL battles are fought. Battles for our lives. Battles that God’s army fights on a day to day to nightly 24/7 basis. Yeah, THOSE realms.
Well, sometimes . . . actually a lot of times, things from that supernatural realm seeps into the natural, earthly realm. Be it bad or good, it spills over. And . . . some of it’s sorta scary. It’s especially alarming because some of the frightening, creepy stuff sorta comes from the same folks you know and go to school and work with and see everyday and live next door to. In other words, sometimes we sleep with monsters. We invite them in. We have dinner with them and teach them and love them and marry them and have kids with them. Crap! I know I’m turning you off right about now, but just stick with me.
See. . . I wasn’t afraid of monsters. They were made up characters in all those horror movies I used to watch all the time. Then I fell in love with one. I wasn’t afraid of ghosts. I watched those paranormal movies on TV and slept soundly every night with no fear of any middle of the night, unwanted visitors checking on me. Then they visited me for real. Yep, I think I’ve just lost you right about now, but I shall proceed.
Remember I told you about the pastor in that church I visited several years ago? The pastor who told the congregation to go home and kick satan out of our homes? And then I went home and did it, I kicked satan and his posse out of my house? Well, that pastor made a very good point that day. It put the things I was going through at that time into perspective. Now remember, I’m a skeptic and I don’t believe everything everybody tells me or shows me, even if you are a pastor, priest or man of any cloth. But that day, what the pastor said made sense. He explained that the evil one doesn’t only wear red and have a pitchfork and horns anymore. he is not readily distinguishable from the general population. The evil one disguises himself as a multitude of things and persons and opportunities and events. Your pet, your man, your wife, your job, your whoever.
Now I’m so not saying that you need to live a paranoid life and be weary of everyone and everything you meet. I’m not saying that everyone and everything is evil and wicked and up to no good and is no good for you. What I am saying is like I said before. . . stay woke. Be alert. Draw close to the Creator and ask Him to show you what you need to see and hear and understand and know. In all situations pray. Pray for everyone and everything. Make prayer your second full time job. Do it constantly and all the time. Talk to God like you’d talk to your friend, your bestie, your homeboy, a member of your posse. No formalities needed. Just talk to Him. Ask Him to show you what you need to know. And He will. Trust me.
Ask Him to point out the monsters so you don’t fall in love with them. Ask Him to call them out so you don’t sleep with them. Ask Him to remove them from your life so you don’t waste time, energy, and money on them. I’m not afraid of anything much anymore. Why? Because I drew close, I was shown, I believed what I was shown, and I was spared. So, screw the monsters. Jesus is the great monster slayer.
