WHAT MAKES ME SO SPECIAL?

Nothing. I’m just like everybody else on this planet earth. I’m trying to live life the best that I can one day at a time. I’m trying to figure out what living my best life is though. Is it staying healthy? Being with the people I love. Staying out of trouble? Helping strangers? Binge watching on Netflix? Partying? What exactly does the best life I can live mean anyway? And who do I want to live my best life with? My family? My friends? What about my neighbors and coworkers? Do I want them along for the ride of my lifetime? And as I go forward, trying to figure me out, why do roadblocks, meteor showers and tsunamis keep throwing me for a loop? Doesn’t God want me to have a smooth life while allowing me to figure out my best life?

Jesus went around with his posse, the disciples, and lived His best life by ministering to those who would listen. He devoted His short life to helping others achieve their best lives. He’s still doing that . . . but only if we let Him. His own life was not without an occasional hiccup, stubbed toe, fall or traffic jam (to say the least). Joseph and Mary were not spared an earthquake or two or a hurricane here and there. And they were chosen by God for crying out loud! So what makes me so special that I should think that God would give me pristine, calm, blue waters to sail my life through? I’m no more special than anyone else but I am a child of God just like everyone else. Strip away money, job status, homes and cars and you and I are the same. Just the way He wanted us to be.
